Right after the first starts of the 2018 season, two Club athletes gave a short interview to the Club’s Press Attache

Caroline Kipkirui

- Caroline, what are your main goals for the current season of 2018?

- The main goal of this season is to progress, show better results and improve from competition to competition. Of course, we will focus on IAAF World Challenge Meetings and the Diamond League Meetings.

- This year your first start was Half marathon in Houston, USA. How is your general state of health and self-awareness?

- Not bad. I am gaining my optimal condition through trainings.

- Your result on the Aramco Half Marathon is 66:48. How satisfied are you with the time shown?

 - I am very pleased, at the moment this is my personal best in this discipline, however the main thing for me is the preparation for track season.

- What are your plans for the upcoming months?

- I'll stay for little bit longer in the USA, and will continue my training here, then I'm going to train in Eldoret and Iten in Kenya. The next half marathon will be in February in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

- At the moment you are a member of the track and field athletics club "Altay Athletics", tell me whether this affects your results in general.

- It is certainly a breakthrough stage in my career, as well as for other members of the Club. I express my gratitude to the Governor of the Eastern Kazakhstan region, Mr. Akhmetov, even from a distance we feel his constant support. We are also grateful to the Athletics Federation of Kazakhstan which shows professional work on the international level, as for us,  we promise to work professionally and for the benefit of athletics development in Kazakhstan. I'm sure we will not disappoint all the people supporting us.

Shadrack Koech

- Shadrak, you just turned 18. What are your expectations for the 2018 season?

- For now, my main goal is to improve the results and train hard. I dream to start  performing in the Challenge Series and the Diamond League.

- You are now the athlete of the Altay Athletics club, did it affect your results?

- I joined Club after representatives of the Federation of Kazakhstan had been watching over me for six months and I am very proud to represent in races the Altay Athletics club, which supports me both in terms of training and  competitions. Such support steadily raises the indicative time.

I would not deny that there was interest for me from other clubs and companies, both in Kenya and abroad, for eg."Nike", but I saw a great future in Altay  Athletics, after visiting Ust-Kamenogorsk and meeting the governance there.

- In the new year you already had two races in Kenya. The first race took place on January 6th in Kapsongwony Bungoma Cross Country. Your feelings about the race, and are you satisfied with the time shown?

- Certainly, I believe that I showed a very good result, taking into consideration the highlands, nevertheless, to justify the trust I have received form the Kazakhstan side, I need always get on the podium.

- You proved this in a race in the city of Nakuru at a distance of 8 km, 23: 12: 30 ....

- I work hard, the Club creates conditions for a full-fledged training process to achieve good results, I think this is a logical indicator. But, to notice, I'm preparing for the track season, and I dream to glorify and promote Kazakhstan's track and field internationally.
