Askar Baizhigitovich, what positive effect do you expect in the development of athletics in the East Kazakhstan region after the start of work of Altay Athletics?
First of all, I want to inform you that not only we ourselves realized to open this club. It was the idea of the Athletics Federation of Kazakhstan. They have taken the initiative to hold in our country not only the usual championship of Kazakhstan, but also the club championship of the country. Simply, we are the very first who opened the club. What will we see? Raising the level of skills of our athletes with the involvement of coaching staff and specialists, including from abroad. We have promising guys and girls with very good data, like Arthur Gafner or Varvara Nazarova, but there is not enough knowledge and experience for mentors who work here in Kazakhstan. Especially for work in javelin throwing, experts from abroad will be invited to improve their skill level.
Will the club expand?
Oh, sure. We invited foreign athletes, but to check them in the case, they took part in the championship of Kazakhstan and the memorial of Gusman Kosanov. I thought they would outrun Kazakhstan athletes for two laps. I made a mistake. They went round them in four circles! Of course, there will be invited not only foreign sportsmen, we have already made an offer to a number of the best athletes of Kazakhstan from other regions. In the near future there will not be intensive training, only test exercises will be. Kenyan track and field athletes will prepare at home, because their base is 2.5 km above sea level. This is the optimal height, after which athletes gain the necessary pre-season volume. Athletes from the African continent are also very difficult to acclimatize, so their presence here on an ongoing basis is simply not appropriate. They just arrived from Antalya yesterday, where training camps were held together with the national team of Kazakhstan.
